The City of Sacramento has adopted a bold policy vision to promote zero-emission mobility with the goals of improving air quality, combatting climate change, increasing mobility and access for low-income and disadvantaged communities, and strengthening Sacramento’s position as a hub for the development and deployment of advanced transportation technologies. To realize this vision, the City has embarked on a two-pronged strategy.
First, the City has been working to create an ecosystem that supports vehicle electrification, for example, through public charging and discounts in municipal parking facilities for electric vehicles. Second, the City has been actively supporting investments in new, innovative transportation modes, such as bike, scooter, and car share services, that create additional travel options and enable more people to get around without relying on a personal automobile.
